Removing Content Advisor Password

Recently while attending college I noticed someone had enabled the content advisor for Internet Explorer on a computer. After trying a few methods I was able to remove the content advisor password and disable the filter.

  1. Go to the start menu and select run
  2. Enter "regedit" without quotes in the text field and press enter
  3. Click the plus button next to "H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
  4. Click the plus button next to "Software"
  5. Click the plus button next to "Microsoft"
  6. Click the plus button next to "Windows"
  7. Click the plus button next to "CurrentVersion"
  8. Click the plus button next to "Policies"
  9. Click on the "Ratings" folder
  10. In the right window pane of regedit, you'll see and item that says "Key." Click the item and press delete
  11. Restart your computer
  12. Start Internet Explorer, go to tools, internet options
  13. Select the content tab and click disable, when prompted for a password, simply press OK
  14. You've now disabled IE's Content Advisor
